LIBRARY RESOURCE CENTRE
Introduction
The Library Resource Centre has a collection of over 30,000 educational resources. This makes it the largest quality high school library in Townsville. Specialist qualified teacher-librarians and library aides are available to both staff and students. Technology in the form of a networked computerised catalogue, electronic database for newspapers and magazines, CD-ROMs and internet facilities, are central features of the library's operation. The Library Resource Centre forms the basis of the school's commitment to resource-based teaching and learning. Its extensive range of educational resources are made available to the school community for extended hours beyond the normal school day, thus maintaining and enhancing the school's reputation for academic distinction.
 
Borrowing Procedures
Always present your ID Card at the Circulation Desk when borrowing.
Most loans are for 2 weeks.
Years 8,9 and 10 : 3 fortnightly loans + 2 overnight loans.
Years 11 and 12 : 5 fortnightly loans + 3 overnight loans.
Overnight Loans such as videos, DVDs, A/V and Magazines are to be returned promptly the next day.
Students who fail to return items after reminders will be required to pay the cost of a new item or replace the item.
Borrowing rights stop if you have overdue items.
 
Computers
The Library has 24 computers that students can access before school, during lunch, recess or class time.
Each computer has access to a networked catalogue, Microsoft Office, a variety of CD-ROM titles, various software programs, electronic databases and the internet.
As these computers are connected to the school network, the student must have access to a school UserName and Password.
Library Resource Centre Rules
- Students must wait outside until class teacher arrives
- Eating or drinking is to be done outside
- Leave bags outside on the port racks
- Students must be working quietly and leave all library areas neat and tidy
- Returning books and other items to their correct place is appreciated by all library users
- The Library is an educational service centre, not a recreational area
