Sport figures prominently in Pimlico's extra-curricular offerings. Sport is a valued part of Pimlico and students are encouraged to become involved. The school has representative sporting teams across a wide range of sports with numerous opportunities for students to excel in their chosen fields. The school has a long and successful record in sport, particularly athletics.

We provide regular and expert coaching for all students. Our emphasis is on participation and the development of the whole person. Participation in sport encourages a balanced and healthy lifestyle and helps to promote teamwork, dedication and endurance.

Sporting opportunities include Townsville Secondary School Sport (TSSS) Block Sport (after school), PSHS Inter-House and TSSS Inter-School Carnivals (swimming, cross country and athletics), non TSSS activities, as well as lunchtime sport.

Additionally, PSHS has a proud tradition in athletics and offers a comprehensive program catering for all abilities. Students have the opportunity to regularly train on some of Townsville’s most modern athletics facilities:

  • A synthetic training surface (long, triple, high, javelin, sprints)
  • Throwing circles and cage (discus, shot)
  • Full 400m grass running track
  • Extensive range of quality equipment

All students have regular access to quality coaching through Pimlico’s athletics program which offers:

  • Qualified coaches involved in our teaching and coaching program
  • Access to free coaching both during and after school hours
  • Athletics as part of the Physical Education program at both Junior and Senior level
