Enrolling at our school

Pimlico State High School is subject to an Enrolment Management Plan.  Priority for enrolment is given to children who permanently reside within the defined catchment area for the school.  However enrolment is not limited to residents of the catchment area and other children will be accepted for enrolment for the available places taking into account the following priorities:

  • Children who permanently reside within the catchment

  • Siblings of students already enrolled at the school and who will continue to attend after their sibling starts at school (not applicable for students accepted for Programs of Excellence)

  • Children whose parent or legal guardian is employed by the school

  • Students accepted for the school’s Programs of Excellence.

  • Other applicants will be placed on a waiting list and accepted for further available places in chronological order of receipt of completed enrolment application.

Catchment area

The boundary for the catchment area is based on equal distances between neighbouring high schools and is defined by the catchment area map for Pimlico SHS.  A copy of the map can be viewed from the link below.  Please note that this map shows only the approximate position of the catchment area boundary.  For all streets at or near the boundary, confirmation of the catchment status of individual properties must be obtained from the school office.

Enrolment Applications

Each year, our school community is humbled by the strong demand for enrolment places in Year 7. Many of these families are drawn to our strong academic focus, our renowned music and arts programs, our innovative global citizenship and leadership opportunities and our vibrant and welcoming community. Pimlico operates  under an Enrolment Management Plan, which places certain restrictions on how many enrolments the school can take from outside our defined geographic catchment each year.

In order to provide greater certainty for families interested in joining our school community – especially those who may reside outside our catchment area – Pimlico will be moving to a revised set of enrolment timelines in 2021. These changes will enable the school to confirm enrolment places at  Pimlico much earlier than has been the case in previous years.

From 2022, our enrolment processes will focus on Year 5 rather than Year 6 as the primary point of enrolment acceptance and confirmation. This will provide families with certainty about their child’s enrolment at Pimlico from the middle of Year 5. We understand that circumstances change and we will, of course, continue to accept enrolment applications through the remainder of Year 5 and into Year 6. However, early application will assist families in securing out-of-catchment enrolment places, which are offered in order of receipt of application. Our Music Excellence Program will also continue to provide an additional mechanism for the enrolment of students outside of our catchment.

I look forward to welcoming you into our school community!

Stephen Baskerville
Executive Principal
